Restoring Institutions : Policing issue must be 'viewed in the round'

The Six County Assembly meets at Stormont this Friday. That Assembly meeting will form the next step in the process of restoring the power-sharing and all-Ireland institutions, established under the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. At Friday's Assembly session Sinn Féin will put forward Party Chief Negotiator and former Six County Minister for Education, Martin McGuinness MP, for the position of Deputy First Minister.

Hain and NIO civil service to be investigated

The British Attorney General has announced that he will be investigating if the British Secretary of State or his NIO officials misled Belfast High Court. The case was referred to the Attorney General by presiding High Court Judge Girvan who has accused Hain and top NIO officials of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

SF Pre-Budget Submission: Focus on plight of 'working poor'

Sinn Féin's Pre-Budget Submission 2007 entitled 'Putting Low Income Families First' is being launched today (Thursday) by Party President Gerry Adams, Finance spokesperson Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD, Party Chair and Dublin Central election candidate Mary Lou McDonald MEP, and Waterford election candidate Councillor David Cullinane.

RUC collusion highlighted

Aspects of the murder of Sinn Féin's Eddie Fullerton are to be investigated by Six-county Ombudsman Nuala O'Loan. Allegations of British collusion in the Donegal killing have never been fully investigated. The Sinn Féin councillor was shot dead in 1991.

Electoral register debacle - two week extension

Sinn Féin Local Government spokesperson Arthur Morgan TD has welcomed a government announcement on Tuesday of an extension of two weeks for the public to get onto the new 26 County electoral register. But he said it has to be matched by adequate resources if the tens of thousands of people who have been taken off the register are to get back on.

Fullerton family meet Taoiseach

The family of the late Sinn Féin Councillor Eddie Fullerton met Taoiseach Bertie Ahern in Government Buildings on 16 November. Fullerton was murdered in his home in Buncrana, County Donegal in May 1991 and there is evidence that British forces colluded in the murder.
