Housing Sinn Féin seeks to reverse dilution of housing provision obligations

This week saw Sinn Féin TDs introduce a Bill in Leinster House aimed at tackling the chronic housing crisis in the 26 Counties. The Bill restores provisions in the original Planing and Development Act 2000 obliging property developers to provide 20% social and affordable housing in all housing developments.

South Armagh Volunteer dies in road crash

Gerald Fearon, from Dromintee in South Armagh, who died in a road crash on Friday night 27 October, was an IRA Volunteer.

Concert Big name artists to perform at Dublin's Ambassador

A concert themed 'A Celebration of Remembrance' will take place on 2 December in the Ambassador Theatre Dublin in remembrance of the 1981 Hunger Strikers. Big name artists such Karen Casey and Kila will perform at the event and a representative of the Cuban government will attend.

Housing Conference - Government policy responsible for crisis

Sinn Féin this week moved legislation in the Dáil to amend the Planning and Development Acts to close a loophole allowing property developers to buy their way out of social and affordable housing provision. The development followed hot on the heels of a party conference in Dublin last weekend dealing with Sinn Féin's policy on housing.

Survey highlights difficulties of finding homes under scheme

Sinn Féin Housing spokesperson Seán Crowe TD has called on the four local authority managers in Dublin to increase limits on the shared ownership housing scheme to reflect the reality of the housing market.
