Adams states opposition to North Belfast marches

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams was joined by party colleagues Gerry Kelly, Martin McGuinness and Kathy Stanton for a press conference in Belfast to discuss the Parades Commission decision to force two Orange marches through nationalist areas of North Belfast on 12 July.

Surge of Orange violence

While last week witnessed agreement between the Bogside Residents' Group and the Orange Order pointing to the effectiveness of meaningful dialogue, the prospects of reason prevailing around contentious sectarian marches elsewhere in the North have all but been dashed by the general raising of the sectarian temperature.

Talks and tension in run up to 12th

Presbyterian Minister, Dr Joseph Fell defended an agreement that will see Orangemen marching in Derry, including along the West Bank of the city for the first time in 13 years. Accommodation was reached after engagement and dialogue between the Bogside Residents' Group and representatives of Derry's Orange Order leadership. The city's Chamber of Commerce chaired the talks.

Thousands protest over Ros Dumhach 5

Thousands have marched, protested, picketed and occupied petrol stations, signed petitions, from Ennis, Cork, Waterford, Wicklow, Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Meath, Louth, to Galway and Castlebar, in response to the imprisonment, by the Government at the behest of Shell, of five Mayo men from Ros Dumhach.

Anger continues over Kelly arrest

Up to 60 Sinn Féin supporters and activists picketed a meeting of the Ballymoney District Policing Partnership (DPP) in the County Antrim village of Dunloy on Thursday 30 June calling for the immediate release of the recently arrested North Belfast republican Seán Kelly. Protestors lined the route through the County Antrim village to St Joseph's Parish Centre, where the meeting was being held, displaying placards and banners demanding Kelly's release.
